Did you know that Mingei has a Book Club?  We have been meeting monthly since September 2008, every second Tuesday at 7:30pm at the store.  We even have a Book Club blog called Mingeireads.  There you can find  a list of all the books we have read so far,  links to author interviews and articles of interest and a place for you to comment on and review the books.  It is a work in progress.  Please help us build it!

Here is another place all you Mingei readers can suggest books to one another.  Go ahead!

    Hi Ellen And Ann,
I don’t if you remember me – I made one of the Virgins for the auction. I have a friend here who does marvelous photography and does wonderful things with it on Photoshop. (Remember I live in a pueblo near Cuernavaca). Her name is Maria Jose. I’m going to bring small ones with me to show you that you might like to sell. I am also working with a group of women in my village (showing them how to crochet bags and cell phone holders out of the colorful plastic bags that are in everywhere in mexico). Their specialty are baskets and items made of the local beautful cedar straw. I’ll bring a couple of those too.
I can’t wait to see the shop again. I’m coming for the month of November.
    Fondly,
    Mariana

PS: Tomorrow I am visiting the taller of a woman who employs several Mexican women – she has shown them how to make really gorgeous lampwork beads and they sell the beads on Etsy.com and I plan to bring a few pairs with me. I can show you those, too.
If you don’t want anything that’s fine – just a thought!
